The NHL has fined Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau $2,000 for diving/embellishment, the league announced Friday.
The fine stems from an incident involving Joshua Ho-Sang of the New York Islanders Sunday. Ho-Sang was assessed a holding minor but Gaudreau was penalized for embellishing on the play. Gaudreau received a warning back in December for something that happened in a game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Los Angeles Kings defenceman Jake Muzzin was also fined $2,000. Muzzin’s incident occurred against the Canucks on Saturday when he flung his head back, drawing a high-sticking penalty on Michael Chaput despite Chaput’s stick never making contact with Muzzin’s face.
The next citation Gaudreau and Muzzin receive will cost them $3,000 under the guidelines of NHL Rule 64.
