The Vancouver Canucks are close to bringing in centre Drew Shore, who spent this past season playing with EHC Kloten in Switzerland.
Shore would have to clear waivers before joining the Canucks, who have lost a myriad of players to the mumps, illness and other injuries.
The 26-year-old Shore had 24 goals and 24 assists in 50 games in the NLA this season, and would be ineligible to play in the post-season, should Vancouver go on a run and make it there.
He was originally a second-round pick of the Florida Panthers in 2009, and has nine goals and 24 points in 80 career NHL games.
