After 21 NHL seasons and two Stanley Cups, New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias announced his retirement Friday morning.
The 40-year-old spent his entire career in New Jersey and walks away as the franchise leader in goals (408) and points (1,025). A second round draft pick in 1994, Elias was a big part of the dominant Devils team that captured Stanley Cups in 2000 and 2003.
His last NHL game was in April 2016 when he scored a goal and two assists in a win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
