Report: Saints trade receiver Brandin Cooks to Patriots

The New Orleans Saints have traded wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the New England Patriots, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

The Patriots were reportedly willing to trade cornerback Malcolm Butler in order to get Cooks, but they’ve managed to keep one of their top players in the secondary whilst bolstering their receiving corps.

Cooks posted his second straight 1,000-yard season, recording 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns for the Saints in 2016. He has just under 3,000 yards in his three-year career.

The move is just the latest in a flurry for the defending Super Bowl champions, whose early off-season activity only further cements the Patriots as the team to beat in the AFC.
