Silvertips beat Royals in fifth OT to end longest game in CHL history

The Everett Silvertips beat the Victoria Royals 3-2 on Sunday in the fifth overtime, bringing an end to the longest game in CHL history.



Cal Babych scored the winner, his second of the game, at 11:36 of the eighth period to clinch the best-of-seven series for the Silvertips.



Everett goalie Carter Hart made 64 saves to get the win, while Royals goalie Griffen Outhouse made 72 saves.


The Silvertips will face the Seattle Thunderbirds in the second round of the WHL playoffs.
